Overview
The publishing house Ghost Writer has commissioned the two volume series in this project. The objective of this project  is to design and create two 20-page color cookbooks that have a central theme connecting them. This project uses all copyright free or original images. This cookbook is designed based on family recipes from my grandparents. My family comes from rich and flavorful food that isn’t always easy to create on hand. I took inspiration from recipes from both my mom and grandparents, in an effort to create an archive for my sister and cousins to give us the chance to make these recipes in the future.
Goals and Research
This cookbook is inspired by my family and the food they cooked throughout my life. As a first generation in American it’s hard making food as delicious as my mother and she says the same thing about her mothers recipes. I wanted to design a book that would preserve the recipes they cooked as a memorabilia that can be used as a reference for anyone. The goal of this project is to create a cookbook will continuously  be pasted down to future generations, so the recipes and culture of my family continues. This book can also be used to educate friends and other people outside my culture and bridge the gap between us by sharing a part of my culture.
Solutions
The cookbook is designed using a serif font as the headers with thin embellishments that connect the stems, ligatures or terminals of the letters. It adds that bit of looseness to the words and how cooking is about tasting as you go, the food should make you feel good. I also added a curvature embellishment to the top of the titles to indicate whether the recipe is savory, sweet or a spread. By using an underlay on the ingredients section it breaks up the directions with the rest of the page, giving the readers a clear distinction from both sections. Each recipe page is interactive, giving the readers a chance to  check the boxes with which ingredients they have. The layout of each page is designed with a modern and clean style to represent newer generations that would use this book.
